Wii Component Cables
What are Wii Component cables?
Wii Component cables allow you to
connect your Wii to the current crop of HD (High definition) TVs and
other displays with a component video input (three phono jacks).
Audio is supplied on two other phono jacks.
Why would I want them?
The Wii gives its highest quality
output in component mode, allowing you to enable EDTV(enhanced
definition TV) output, providing a 480p (480 line progressive
scanned) signal. Almost all devices that have component inputs will
support 480p signals. It provides a noticeable boost in graphics
quality in games that support this mode. In addition, with larger
screens the limitations of the other signal formats become more
obvious. For a projector, component should be the only game in town –
the flaws in every other output will become obvious with very large
screens.
In general terms, the Wii output
quality hierarchy can be considered to be (in order of increasing
quality) – composite, S-Video, RGB-Scart, Component.
If you have a display that supports it,
component is the way to go.
