What is a Wii LAN Adapter?
A USB based adapter that provides a
standard Ethernet port to let you connect the Wii to your wired
network.
Why would I want one?
With the virtual console, updates over
the internet, WiiConnect24 and internet gaming with the Wii imminent,
you do really want to get your Wii on the 'net. Although the Wii
does have built in wireless networking it may be in some cases that
this isn't appropriate. Perhaps you don't already have a wireless
router, are concerned with wireless security issues or more likely
with the fickle nature of wireless connections are having difficulty
getting a stable connection where your Wii is situated. A wired LAN
adapter is just what you need – plug this in to your router /
switch with a CAT5 patch lead, and away you go... You could even make
use of the new generation of powerline networking (creating a LAN
over your house electrical wiring).
